Colin Ward was born on 14 August 1924 in Wanstead, Essex. He was a British writer, known for his works on anarchism and mutualism. As a result, he began a lifelong journey of writing, editing, and engaging with his central intellectual passion.

As an educator, he also focused on issues of housing and the built environment. His works like 'The Child in the City' (1978) and 'Cotters and Squatters' (2004) highlighted the principles and applicability of anarchist design. Quotes by Colin Ward

The anarchist conclusion is that every kind of human activity should begin from what from what is local and immediate, should link in a network with no centre and no directing agency, hiving off new cells as the original grows.
The state is not something which can be destroyed by a revolution, but is a condition, a certain relationship between human beings, a mode of human behaviour; we destroy it by contracting other relationships, by behaving differently.
