Federica Montseny

Federica Montseny - Anarchist and Novelist

Federica Montseny was born on 12th February 1905, in Madrid, Spain. She grew up in a milieu of anarchist intellectuals and activists, including her own parents. She became an accomplished speaker and writer, who used her platform to advocate for women's emancipation and social justice.

In the 1930s Montseny became the first woman in Spanish history to serve as a cabinet minister, where she continued to push for gender equality. She authored several novels throughout her career, blending literature and politics to articulate her anarchist and feminist ideas. Montseny passed away on 14th January 1994. Her contributions to the anarchist movement were significant in highlighting the intersection of anarchism and feminism, shaping the discourse of anarchist feminism.
